HISTORY

Our association with Notts County came from a request from Notts FA that Club 2015 originated by Derek Hattersley under the City of Football represent Notts County in the EFL Trust Annual Knockout Cup, this was achieved with the support of Ian Richardson. Since 2016 we continued to give Notts County an independent presence in Walking Football that Football in the Community did not provide. To maintain the association to the Notts County brand I signed Volunteer Forms at the request of Ian Richardson which would provided us with a Community led structure to build on and compete with many other EFL and NFL Clubs with Walking Football Programmes. Football in the Community became the Foundation and as their capacity ran out it was decided by suggestion from Sam Crawford and Emma Trent at the Foundation that we maintain an Independent group using the Notts County name through the Supporters and we became Notts County Supporters Walking Football. We continued as an Independent group with the ethos of Community Trust WF and adopted the Mission Statement of the Foundation and a structure that would allow the group to be absorbed into what ever aspect the Foundation felt was acceptable or beneficial to both the Club and the Foundation when the capacity again existed. At no time were we included as a Programme or Associate only as an Independent Group within the Foundation from Voluntary Work and then through the Supporters. No official association existed only the kind permission and recognition from the Foundation that we provided a Walking Football presence for the Club Brand that has been accepted Nationally by Many other Programmes from Matlock Town to Barnet. After the first Lockdown from a small group of players we built a session that up until the 3rd week of January 2023 supplied many players with a weekly outlet during which time we were one of the Founder members of the Midlands Friendly League along with Nottingham Forest CT and Derby County CT. This grew with the addition of Leicester City, Lincoln City and Doncaster Rovers. Creating our own Community Trust Winter League involving Mansfield Town FITC, Loughborough Wand, this was discontinued when the session was taken over by a few who preferred to become a Private Club and shed the Notts County Supporters initiative for personal benefit and control. The good name of Notts County has been upheld from the very first involvement and the Foundation credited with the work carried out by us for Wish upon a Star Children’s Charity. Our association with Nottingham Forest CT Programme has brought us together many times especially the two Christmas Truce games for Charity. This format of football has been embraced by many professional and amateur Clubs Nationwide as part of their Community Charity work providing local mature people a more active lifestyle promoting health, fitness and wellbeing supporting an independent life. We are now back to where we started using friends from various other sessions to provide friendly rivalry against other Community Trust Programmes providing a WF presence for Notts County without official association changing the title to Notts County Football Community due to incontrovertible differences amongst the group.
